Overview

Blood with an excess of platelets is known as platelet-rich plasma. The two components of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) are platelets, a type of blood cell, and plasma, the liquid portion of blood. Why might I need this procedure?

PRP treatments are used for various dermatological conditions, such as:

  • Acne
  • Alopecia
  • Burns
  • Discolouration
  • Fine lines
  • Hair loss
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Injuries
  • Melasma
  • Scarring
  • Skin ulcers
  • Uneven skin texture
  • Wrinkles

What does this procedure entail?

Your blood will be taken from one of your arms if you decide to receive this treatment. The blood sample is then put into a device (centrifuge) that separates your blood's platelets from the rest of your blood. Your face or scalp will receive the injection of blood containing a high quantity of platelets to achieve the desired effect.

What can I expect after this procedure?

You may return to your routine immediately after your PRP therapy appointment because no downtime is required. Adverse effects include redness, swelling, stinging, or tingling. However, they should go away on their own within a few days. The healing process may take a few weeks or months before you see the full effects of PRP injections. Depending on your dermatological objectives, you could require two to five sessions for your treatment. These sessions are usually scheduled monthly by our Restore team. If you live a healthy lifestyle and consistently use high-quality skin care products, benefits can last nine to twelve months after the treatment cycle is finished. If you follow a healthy skin routine and try to maintain your results, you should only require one PRP injection treatment per year.
